First and foremost, the Seaway Magazine appreciates all the seafarers who have participated in the recently-conducted Seaway Photo Contest.
It is our first time to have administered a photo contest, and we are very pleased to have gained massive support from our stakeholders, most especially, the seafarers.
We launched the Seaway Photo Contest this year to encourage our Filipino Seafarers to maximize the use of technology, particularly the emerging social media use in sharing their most essential moments on high seas. We want this photo contest to serve as a convenient platform to boost awareness about the endeavors of Filipino seafarers around the world – which not everyone could relate to.
From twelve entries pre-selected, Captain John Lechugas’ Sunset in Malacca Strait won a 40 inch flat TV, garnering the highest number of ‘likes’.
Nonetheless, each of the entry has its unique style in reflecting the life of every seafarer and all have radiated positivity and inspiration. Below are photos that were also shortlisted in the photo contest.
Seaway Magazine wants to gather and feature more photos next year. We want to continue this project, along with our advocacy to educate and speak for the Filipino seafarers and promote their welfare as well.
The contest is open to all seafarers out there. Interested participants can send their entries to our email address: email@example.com. We also post our announcements on Facebook so make sure you follow our page: Seaway Magazine to keep you updated regarding the mechanics of the contest.
